Building the 170 + page City of Fairbanks mega-website was no easy task. The job entailed combining three outdated vastly different City web entities into one seemless City web presence.
The entire new website from the photography, the photoshop work, the specialized web content, the HTML coding, the Javascript and the Flash modules were all developed and constructed by Alaskan Dreams IT Services owner Richard Schurz on a part time basis over a 22 week period. Consisiting of just 9 pages this second sample site is probably a lot closer in scope to the needs of a small business, non-profit, or Church. Built from the ground up the ---------- was constructed in a little over over two weekends for a total of 25 hours. This project was actually qyuite an ambitious one; to create not just a website, but an image for a business in need of one.
With the aide of Alaskan Dream
s IT Services expertise the owner was able to purchase his web domain name at a cost far below market price the saving on that alone paid almost 50% of the website construction cost.
Working with our "Build as much as you want, when you want policy." the owner opted to put off building his football page until this fall -- when he's ready, we'll pick up exactly where we left off, with no hidden fees or extra charges.

Back in 1997 while frying my brains out in Fort Irwin (Located in California's Mohave Desert) I got to thinking what a wonderful place Fairbanks Alaska had been. We had lived across the street from the city in Fort Wainwright from 1994 -1997. Fairbanks' unparalleled natural beauty, its spectacular wildlife, great tourist attractions, and wonderful warm hearted people have a way of growing on you when you're away. Wanting very much to view familiar scenes from Fairbanks I went online and found to my great dismay that neither the City of Fairbanks, the Fairbanks Visitor Center, the Chamber of Commerce nor the Borough had anything in the way of local photographs. Well, I made phone calls, and sent e-mails to which I got little or no response. So at that time while in burning heat of California I began digging through my personal photographs and started putting together a website that would visually show what living in Fairbanks Alaska was like. Hence the website alaskandreams.net was born. Truly a labor of love I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours building the pages and searching for the right words to tell the story of this town and what it means to me. Finally in 1999 when my wife retired from the Army we immediately decided that there was no better place on earth to raise our children then here. And I might add as soon as we got back in town I immediately began taking photos to add to my special on-line project. While this site is by no means complete it is no the less the most photo filled site exclusively dedicated to the City of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Perhaps some day I'll get to build the Fairbanks Visitor's Website . . . Well, I guess I can dream on.
